Small Jobs Welcome — Miami-Dade
A cracked tile, a loose piece on the tub ledge, grout that has gone dark and soft. These are small problems, but in Miami humidity they rarely stay small. We take tile repair jobs of any size, from a single tile to a full shower wall, with the same crew that does our full installations.
A tile problem is often a water problem in disguise. Cracked grout and a split caulk line let water get behind the tile, and the damage grows where you cannot see it. Air near Biscayne Bay and the ocean carries salt, and humidity is high most of the year, so anything that gets wet behind a wall dries slowly here. Fixing one tile this month can spare you a shower rebuild next year.
These are the repair calls we see most: a cracked or chipped tile, a tile that sounds hollow when you tap it, pieces that came loose around a tub or on a shower ledge, grout that is cracked, missing or stained, and caulk that has pulled away where the wall meets the tub. Each one has a different cause. The right fix depends on the cause, not on what the damage looks like from the outside.
First we find out why it failed. A tile that cracked under a dropped pan only needs a new tile. A tile that cracked because the base underneath moves needs more than that, or the new one will crack in the same place. Loose tiles on a tub ledge often mean water got behind them, so we look at what is under the tile before we set anything back.
Then we cut out the damaged piece without disturbing the tiles around it, clean the bed down to a solid surface, and set the replacement. Old grout gets cut out and replaced, not smeared over, because a thin skin of new grout on top of failed grout does not last. Where a wall meets a tub, a floor or another wall, the joint gets a flexible sealant instead of grout, because those corners move as the building heats and cools.
Matching is often the hardest part. If you kept spare tiles from the original job, those are the best match there is, so look for them before we visit. If not, we look for the closest available tile and show it to you before we cut anything out. With older tile an exact match is not always possible, and we tell you that up front.
In a condo, even a short repair involves the building. Many condo associations set work hours and require elevator reservations, and those rules apply to a two-tile job as much as to a remodel. Call the management office before the visit so the crew is expected at the front desk.
A repair in a shower or around a tub also sits above your neighbor's ceiling. If water has already gone behind the tile, swapping the tile alone will not solve it, and the waterproofing under it may need attention. ANSI A118.10 is the standard for waterproof membranes that go under tile. When the damage reaches that layer, we say so, and we explain the difference between a repair and a rebuild before you decide anything.
If the job grows into work that moves plumbing or changes walls, a permit usually comes into play. In Miami-Dade the permit comes from the city when the address is inside city limits, such as the City of Miami for Brickell, and from Miami-Dade County in unincorporated areas like Kendall. We prepare the submittal and handle permitting as part of the job.

It depends on how many tiles are damaged, whether a match is available, and what we find underneath. A loose tile over a dry, solid base is a short job; a loose tile with water behind it is a longer one. Send us photos on WhatsApp and we can tell you what we need to see in person. We quote after looking at it, and small jobs are welcome.
Most of the time is waiting, not working. Cutting out a tile and setting the new one goes fast, but the mortar under it has to cure before grout, and the grout has to cure before the area gets wet. In a shower that means keeping it dry until the grout is ready. If we find water damage under the tile, the plan changes, and we tell you before going further.
Yes. A single cracked tile, a loose piece on a tub ledge or a section of failed grout is a job we take. We are based in North Miami Beach and work across Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
If you kept spare tiles from the original installation, that is the best match there is. If not, we look for the closest available tile and show it to you before removing anything. With older tile an exact match is not always possible, and sometimes replacing a full row or a clear section looks better than one odd tile in the middle of a wall.
Ask your management office. Many condo associations set work hours and require elevator reservations, even for short jobs. If the repair turns into work that moves plumbing or changes walls, a permit usually comes into play too, and we prepare the submittal and handle permitting as part of the job.
